Tane Mahuta Kauri Tree
The countries larges Kauri tree 2000 years old. There used to be forests of Kauri trees but the early settlers, mainly British, cut them down for wood to make money.
This one is sideways, editing on a phone is not easy.
It measures 18 metres to the first branch, and is 4.4 metres in diameter. The name means " The Lord of the Forest"
This would have been a youngsters in the early forests.
